Further Information

  • The purpose of the census of peer support workers working within mental health services across England is to enable NHS England to build a comprehensive national profile of these workers.

Within scope are all peer support workers providing mental health support within organisations who provide NHS commissioned mental health services across England.

Following feedback to the Workforce Programme in 2023, the collection of Peer Support Workers has been incorporated within the Perinatal Mental Health, Children and Young People’s Mental Health and Adult and Older People Mental Health Censuses. However, the data will be analysed and reported separately for Peer Support Workers.

Participants will receive a bespoke report outlining key messages and metrics, which compare local data against nationally reported positions. In addition, participants will receive a bespoke report for the main censuses (Perinatal MH, CYPMH or AOP MH) based on participation.
